Caption Note: History: Note: The shipbuilder later became known as Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Co., Ltd. The Umbria commenced her maiden voyage from Liverpool to New York on November 1, 1884. Won the trans-Atlantic speed record in May 1887 by making the westward crossing in 6 days, 4 hours, 42 minutes, averaging 18.89 knots for the run. She consumed 10 tons of coal per hour to obtain a speed of 19 knots. Scrapped in 1910. Sister ship: Etruria.
