  	News has been received here of the death of S.M. Bilbo, a well known Jackson county farmer, who succumbed yesterday to charbon, one of the most horrible and dreaded diseases known. He lived six miles from Ocean Springs. It is said that he contracted the disease from handling the carcass of a steer which had died upon his farm. He had lost a number of cattle from a mysterious disease that he could not understand. A valuable steer recently died and he skinned it to save the hide and minimize his loss. While skinning the animal, he scratched a pimple upon his breast and thus became infected with charbon poisoning. The county authorities have taken a hand in the matter and have ordered all cattle vaccinated.
